Artist Statement

As a sports fan, there is nothing better than watching history unfold. I spent my childhood listening to Harry Caray and Steve Stone on WGN call Chicago Cubs games. I've watched such great players as Ryne Sandburg, Andre Dawson, Greg Maddox, Lee Smith, Sammy Sosa, Mark Grace, and so many others through the years trying to break through the curse of the goat and falling just short. So, watching the 2016 Cubs roster come together and accomplish this feat, in the manner in which it played out, was something truly special. My goal with the painting was to capture the jubilation of accomplishing something that has been so hard to attain. I am very proud of what turned out and  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
