Artist Statement

As a lifelong sports fan, I've always enjoyed the narrative of when the athlete gets the chance to shine, they make the most of it. Joe Burrow not only shined while the spotlight was on him, he shined as bright as any quarterback has ever shined with a season for the ages. After his Heisman victory, I knew that I wanted to do a painting to commemorate his season but I also wanted to illustrate the way that he endeared himself to the people of Louisiana. I loved the fact that he changed the spelling of his name to "Burreaux" to Senior day.  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
